COMPANY OF ANGELS THEATRE PRESENTS “BENEATH RIPPLING WATER” IN TIME FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND VALENTINE’S DAY; STARTS FEBRUARY 12

Writer-performer Sybyl Walker creates unforgettable portraits of women in love in “Beneath Rippling Water.” The work is culturally specific: These are definitely African American women, but their love stories have resonance for women whether Black, white, yellow, red or brown.  T-Baby falls hard for the wrong guy. Miss Pearl finds a great guy, but will she allow herself to have him? Lavender surmounts daunting challenges to connect with the one special young man destined just for her.

Sybyl Walker received Ovation Award and NAACP Theatre Award nominations for her featured role in “Dinah Was” (ICT). Other local appearances include “Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Me? With Dee Wallace Stone, (Egyptian Arena), “War Letters” with Treat Williams and Mario Van Peebles(Canon Theatre), “Kiss at City Hall” (Pasadena Playhouse), much more. She appeared on Broadway with Patrick Stewart in “The Tempest” and off-Broadway in Public Theatre productions of “Henry VIII” and “Insurrection: Holding History.” Ms. Walker received the Joseph Jefferson Award (Chicago) for her performance in “The Colored Museum.”

In addition to her many other New York and regional theatre credits, the SMU graduate has amassed a lengthy roster of TV and film credits, including “Related,” “ER,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Law and Order,” “Dreamgirls,” “The Last Shot,” “24 Nights,” much more.

Gregg T. Daniel directs. The graduate of the NYU Tisch School of the Arts has directed for the Watts Village Theatre Company (Lynn Manning’s “Up From The Downs”), Ojai’s Theatre 150 (“Stop Kiss,” “Sizwe Banzi Is Dead”), 24th Street Theatre (“The Importance of Being Earnest,” “A Thimble of Smoke”) and more. His short film “Silas Lynch” has screened the festival circuit in California, Arizona and Jamaica.
